2025 July Newsletter
July Snuggles in the Summer Heat
It's hot, the sun is shining and summer is in full swing! Amid the warmth, our mission shines even brighter. While sunshine brings joy, every child still needs the soft embrace of a blanket that is a comforting hug when things feel too big or overwhelming. As you soak up the sun this month, remember that your creativity, care, and craftsmanship bring lasting comfort, even on the warmest days.
In this month's newsletter, we're excited to share some incredible milestones, celebrate recent fundraising successes, reflect on the closure of the Box Elder County chapter, highlight a special blanket donation to Utah Royal Kids, and showcase some of the lovely blankets received in the month of June.

Major Milestones!
We are excited to share that our chapter is well on its way to reaching our 2025 goal of distributing 3,000 blankets! With half of the year behind us, we've already delivered 1,562 blankets to children in need.
Even more exciting, we've hit a significant milestone in our chapter's history. Since our founding in 2007, we've distributed over 40,000 blankets!
To put this in perspective (comparisons generated by Chatgpt):
💙 40,000 children could fill an entire major league sports stadium such as Oracle Park (San Francisco Giants) and Wrigley Field (Chicago Cubs) - each have 41,000 person capacity.
💙 40,000 children equals the student enrollment of about 80 elementary schools. The average U.S. elementary school enrollment is about 500 students. That's about the size of a whole large school district.
💙 40,000 children would fill around 555 school buses. A standard school bus holds about 72 children.
Thank you to every volunteer and supporter who made this incredible achievement possible. Your dedication continues to make a lasting impact.
Fundraising Updates
We are thrilled to announce that our chapter has received another generous grant from Walmart, this one from the Quarry Bend Walmart in Sandy! This comes in addition to 2 grants previously awarded by the South Jordan and Draper Walmart locations. We are deeply grateful for their continued local support and commitment to our cause.
Project Linus National Headquarters sponsored a fundraising event - Scrappy Sewing with Patty. A total of 2,286 individuals nationwide signed up for the event, raising nearly $51,000! These funds were directed to the chapters designated by the participants as well as to our national headquarters. Our chapter was proudly represented by two participants - Jackie Cohen and Vicky Hall. We sincerely thank them for taking part in this exciting "FUN"draising event!
Closure of the Box Elder County Project Linus Chapter
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of the Box Elder County Chapter of Project Linus. We extend our deepest gratitude to Debbie Gittins, who did an awesome job leading this chapter. Her dedication brought comfort to countless children in northern Utah. We are especially thankful for her generosity in sharing her fabric "stash" and other supplies with our chapter.
Although this chapter is closing, the opportunity to make a difference remains. If you have a passion for helping children and strengthening your local community, we encourage you to consider starting a new Project Linus chapter. There is a significant need for new chapters, especially in Davis and Utah Counties.
As a Chapter Coordinator, you can ensure that handmade blankets created in our area stay in your area and provide warmth and security to local children in need. It's a meaningful and rewarding way to give back to your community and meet new people. The Project Linus National Headquarters offers full support, including training, resources, and ongoing guidance to help you succeed. Our chapter will also provide support and guidance to a new chapter.
