October 2018 Newsletter

                        Ellen Silverblatt
Ellen Silverblatt– one of our original P L founders of the Salt Lake Chapter has moved away.   Ellen was widowed last year, and she finds it much better to live close to her daughter in Renton, WA, than to learn to do yard work and home upkeep.  Chuck always did all the outside work at their large home in Millcreek area.

Not only has Ellen been a regular at blanket making days, but she also has faithfully earmarked a donation of $50.00 a month for fleece purchase.  We will miss her sweet smile so much, and we thank her for her service and dedication to our PL chapter.

                        Barbara Bray

Barbara works for Yardi, a large software corporation.  Through them she was able to ask for a donation to the charity of her choice. She chose Project Linus, as she has been a regular blanketeer for many years.  This is Barbara donating a $500.00 check!

Joy Millet and Bev Mauss

These awesome sisters are pictured here with the blankets they completed and donated to Project Linus this month.  Bev makes the crochet edge receiving blankets and Joy makes the baby quilts.  Joy has a long-arm quilting machine at her house so she can finish every blanket to perfection.
You may remember a post this last spring when I asked if anyone was interested in working on the raw quilt kits and receiving blanket kits. The kits were donated by Pat Ames, the same ones some of you have enjoyed putting them together.
Joy and Bev undertook to finish as many as they could. Last week they showed up with 140 baby blankets beautifully finished!! A close up of the two styles is here.  The babies in SL County will be well snuggled.

Most of us don’t get to receive THANK YOU NOTES because our blankets only carry our first name on the tags.  But, often I get notes to pass on to you.  This one is from Children’s Justice Center.

“Thank you so much for the beautiful fleece blankets your organization has been providing for the Wasatch County CJC! They are always so nice and  created with such care.   The child abuse victims that visit our center love to choose one for comfort when they visit us.  Thank you for your support of our mission to provide a safe place for Child Abuse Victims to tell their   story.   Kenna Jones, Director”

            Blanket days for October:
Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church – Monday, October 1st
Riverton Senior Center - Friday, October 26th

                 Fund Raising is Essential
Keep the fund raising boutique on your calendar for November 17thSaturday at OSLC.   It means a lot to our budget to buy fleece all year.   We are looking for craft items to sell also – let me know if you make saleable crafts and can donate.

Hugs to all,

Millie and Patsy
