Looking Back to 2024 and Ahead to 2025

As we step into 2025, we're filled with excitement and gratitude for the year that has passed.  Thanks to your incredible support, we had an outstanding year!  In 2024, we received 2,458 blankets and delivered 2,445 blankets to organizations across Salt Lake County.  This brings the total number of blankets distributed since the inception of this chapter in 2007 to 38,503!

Looking ahead, our goal for 2025 is to deliver 3,000 blankets - a bold target, but one we believe is achievable with the continued dedication and passion of our amazing blanketeers.  To help us reach this goal, we will be exploring new organizations that serve children to add to our list of recipients.

If you know of any organization(s) that are committed to helping children and could benefit from our blanket donations, please reach out to Karen or Millie or send an email to slcprojectlinus@gmail.com.  We'd love to learn more about them, including a brief summary of their mission and a point of contact (if known).

As we set our sights on a higher goal for 2025 and work to find additional organizations to which to donate, we recognize that we will need to step up our blanket-making efforts!  But we are confident that, with the dedication of our amazing team and community, we can meet this challenge head-on.  Your continued support and involvement make all the difference, and together, we will be able to bring warmth and comfort to even more children in need.

Stay tuned for updates, and thank you for helping us make a difference!

Another "Behind the Scenes" Look

In the May 2024 newsletter article "A Blankets Journey From Donation to Delivery", we described the process of how a blanket makes its way from your loving hands to become a warm, comforting hug for a child.  But there's a lot more that happens behind the scenes to ensure every blanket reaches its destination.

We'd like to share with you a glimpse of our fabric and blanket storage in Millie's basement.  Without Millie's (and Dean's) spacious basement and the many shelves they've provided, managing our inventory would be an impossible task.

After each blanket is labeled, packaged, and bagged, it's placed on shelves according to size, patiently waiting to be distributed.  With the large number of blankets we receive, our inventory often spills over to the floor as well.  When the time comes to distribute, we determine how many blankets to send to our receiving organizations, carefully pull from the shelves and group the bags based on their intended recipients.

It's a system that keeps everything flowing smoothly, all thanks to Millie and Dean's dedicated space and hard work!

Support Salt Lake County Project Linus in 2025

As we step into the new year, we reflect on the incredible support we've received from our generous donors, and we are grateful for every contribution that helps us fulfill our mission.  As a non-profit, we rely on the kindness of our community to continue making a difference in the lives of children in need.

If you or someone you know is looking for a worthy causes to support, we invite you to consider Salt Lake County Project Linus.  Your donations help us purchase fabric and other necessary supplies to create handmade blankets that bring warmth and comfort to children facing difficult circumstances.

Please click on our "Ways to Help" tab for additional information on monetary donations and, if you are a Smith's shopper, how to link your rewards card to our organization.

In addition to monetary donations, we also welcome donations of cotton/quilting fabric, fleece fabric, batting, thread, yarn, and any other blanket-making materials.  Your contribution, no matter how big or small, makes a direct impact on our ability to continue this important work.

Thank you for your continued support and for helping us bring comfort and joy to children in need.  Together, we can make this year even more impactful.
