2026 September/October News
Well, here we are again! Summer is winding down, September is here and the countdown is officially on: 60 days until Halloween, 86 days until Thanksgiving, and 115 days until Christmas! Plenty of time, right?
The past few months have brought challenges, wonderful surprises, and lots of reminders that Project Linus is about so much more than blankets. It's about friendship, kindness, showing up for one another, and, of course, a little fleece magic!
In this post, we celebrate our amazing Project Linus family, reveal some welcome news about visits from very special Fleece Fairies, and share a heartwarming video.

The past year has brought more than its share of challenges. At times, it has felt like life was determined to keep me on my toes. Through it all, I have been incredibly grateful for my Project Linus Family.
Your kindness, dedication, and willingness to step in have not only supported me, but have kept our chapter moving forward and made us stronger than ever.
A very special thank you goes to Millie. She quietly kept everything running while encouraging me to focus on what mattered most. I truly could not have done it without her. But Millie was not alone. So many of you stepped up, pitched in, checked in, helped with projects, kept things organized, offered encouragement, or simply reminded me that I was not carrying everything by myself. Every act of kindness, whether big or small, made a difference. I am deeply grateful to all of you who helped Millie and helped keep our chapter going when I needed it most.
One of the things I love most about project Linus is that we understand each other. Life happens. Sometimes we need to step away for personal reasons, to care for those we love, or simply to take the time we need to get through a difficult season. That is perfectly okay. We all have something going on behind the scenes and in our lives.
And to all of you who have faced, or are facing, a difficult situation of your own, please know that we care about you, too. You are not alone, and we are here for you. You don't have to explain everything, and you don't have to have it all together. When life gets hard, we can lean on one another. When the time is right, we can find our way back together.
The wonderful part about Project Linus is that this family is always here, waiting with open arms when we are ready to return. There is no guilt, only purpose, friendship, compassion, and a shared desire to bring comfort to children who need it.
I appreciate each and every one of you more than words can say. I am thankful every day that I found Millie and all the amazing people who make up our chapter. Together, we have created something much bigger than blankets. We have built a caring community, sprinkled with a little laughter, a lot of compassion, and enough blankets to keep local children warm and loved.
Thank you for being there, for me, for Millie, for one another, and most importantly, for the children we serve.
Together, we truly can get through it all.

The Fleece Fairy Has Been Found!
Good news! We may have been a little too quick to suspect that the Fleece Fairy had packed up her magic wand and moved away with JoAnn. In fact, we have had a few very special visits over the last few months!
Our first Fleece Fairy visit came from the Mumford family. Their mother had a large stash of fleece she no longer needed. They generously donated it to our chapter. It was such a pleasure to meet them, hear a little about their mother, and give her beautiful fleece a new purpose. We are incredibly grateful for their thoughtful donation.
Our second visit came from the Winnie Watson Foundation. They generously donated a lovely assortment of fringed fleece blankets to our chapter. Their kindness will help us provide even more comfort to children in need. Click here to learn more about this foundation.
Our third fairy visit came from the Porter Family Legacy Foundation. They donated a large amount of fleece to our chapter and will be making blankets with fleece they purchased with funds from the foundation. We look forward to receiving the finished blankets in the future. We love having our Fleece Fairies not only support the magic, but help create the blankets too!
These wonderful donations are a great reminder that the Fleece Fairy may not always arrive with a wand and wings. Sometimes she arrives with a trailer of fleece, a stack of blankets, or a family looking for a meaningful way to pass along something special.
We are still on the lookout for good quality, blanket sized fleece and flannel fabric. So, if you have fleece or know someone who has fleece tucked away in a closet, sewing room, storage bin, or that mysterious place where fabric seems to multiply, we would love to give it a new home and turn it into a cozy blanket for a child in need.
The Fleece Fairy may be a little harder to find these days, but thanks to some wonderful families and organizations, she is definitely still flying around!
Celebrating Our Project Linus Family

This wonderful video from National Project Linus was shown at the June 2026 retreat. It is a beautiful celebration of the Project Linus family. It features a montage of photos of our amazing volunteer blanketeers alongside the children and families who receive their blankets.
It is a wonderful reminder of the people behind every blanket and the difference their time, talent, and generosity make. From the hands that create each blanket to the smiles of those who receive them, these photos capture the heart of Project Linus. Take a few minutes to watch and celebrate the incredible community that makes our mission possible!
