2026 November/December News
And off we go into the holiday season!
It seems like just yesterday we were welcoming a new year, setting goals, and looking forward to another year of making and delivering blankets. Now here we are, heading into November and December, with Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the end of another busy year just around the corner!
Click below to keep reading and join us for a look at our chapter's accomplishments, the difference you've made, and a few things to celebrate as we wrap up another wonderful year!
Our Salt Lake County Project Linus chapter has been busy this year and we have so much to be thankful for. Life has a way of keeping all of us on our toes. Family responsibilities, unexpected challenges, health concerns, and all the other things that fill our days sometimes takes us away from our sewing machines, crochet hooks, knitting needles, and fleece. But even with everything life has thrown our way, our wonderful blanketeers have continued to show up and create beautiful blankets. All of you have helped us meet the needs of children throughout our community.
2,500 Blankets and Counting!
We are on track to deliver more than 2,500 blankets this year! This is an incredible accomplishment. It represents so much more than a number. Every blanket represents time, creativity, generosity, and love. Each one is a tangible reminder to a child who may be facing illness, trauma, or a difficult situation that someone cares about them. We may never know the full story of every child who receives one of our blankets, but we can be confident that a little extra warmth and comfort can make a difference when it is needed most.
It Takes a Village of Volunteers
This milestone would not be possible without the unwavering dedication of our volunteers. Whether you make one blanket a year or dozens, donate fabric and yarn, help prepare materials, make deliveries, or spread the word about Project Linus, you are an important part of our chapter. Every contribution matters. Every blanket helps us fulfill our mission of providing children with a little extra comfort and security when they need it most.
The Gift of a Blanket Hug
As we move into the holiday season, it is especially meaningful to think about the gift we give through Project Linus. While many of us are busy shopping, decorating, baking, and preparing for holiday gatherings, our blanketeers are quietly creating gifts that will be treasured by children and families facing circumstances that may make this time of year especially difficult. A handmade blanket is more than fabric and thread. It is a hug that can be held close, a source of comfort on a hard day, and a reminder that someone took the time to make something special for them.
Quality Matters!
This year, we have continued to focus on the quality of blankets we deliver. We want every blanket bearing the Project Linus name to be something we are proud to give and something a child will be delighted to receive. That extra attention to detail is another way we show our love and respect for the children and families we serve. Thank you for helping us make each blanket the very best it can be.
A Time to Give Thanks
As we celebrate Thanksgiving, we hope you will take a moment to reflect on the good you have helped bring into the world this year. Sometimes it is easy to focus on the number of blankets waiting to be finished or the projects still on our to-do lists. Instead, remember all the blankets that have already found their way into the arms of children who needed them. Thank is something worth celebrating!
Making Room for a Little Christmas Cheer
And as Christmas approaches, may your days be filled with warmth, laughter, family, friends, and perhaps a little time for your favorite blanket-making project. If your holiday schedule gets a little too hectic, remember that those unfinished projects will still be waiting for you when things settle down. The important thing is that we continue to do what we can, when we can, with the time and talents we have.
Thank You for Being Part of Our Project Linus Family
From the bottom of our heart, thank you for being part of our Salt Lake County Project Linus family. Your generosity, kindness, and willingness to share your talents make our work possible. We are grateful for every one of you and proud of what we have accomplished together.
Wishing you and your families a wonderful Thanksgiving, a joyful Christmas, and a happy, healthy New Year. May the coming year bring new opportunities to share our talents, strengthen our friendships, and wrap even more children in the warmth and comfort of a handmade blanket.
💙💙💙
Together, we are making a difference,
one blanket hug at a time!
💙💙💙
